The book, Hollywood Life and Media Take Out: A Focus on Black Celebrities in the Industry, shows the impact of black celebrities in film and television. It also challenges those who claim celebrities of color have been subject to media's over-saturation.

Margot Robbie's brand new hairstyle

Oscar-nominated actress has changed her hair color. It went from a light blonde to a darker golden shade. While the change in color wasn't Oscar-approved, the darker hue creates a natural fade from lighter roots to dark ends. Robbie's highlighted sections of hair make her look sun-kissed and flatter her skin tone. It's not clear how long Robbie will maintain this hairstyle.

Although rumors have suggested that they were once engaged to each other, it appears that their relationship is over. A recent report from E! News claims that the couple broke up in February. We don't know if the reports are true, but we do know Woodley tried again and spent time with Aaron. Evidently, Woodley was aware that their differences were too severe to be able to maintain a romantic relationship. Apparently, this is still the case.

FAQ

Why are there so few independent films that get released?

Many indie filmmakers believe that distributors will take their films.

They believe distributors will pick up their films because they know the public will love their work.

However, this is seldom the case. Distributors often use independent filmmakers.

They may delay a film's release until after the awards season is over.

They delay the release of a low-budget movie until after the summer blockbuster seasons has started.

Distributors are also trying to keep films off the streets until audiences have already spent hundreds upon thousands of dollars on tickets or popcorn.

They don't want these profits to be lost.

Is Hollywood making more from international sales than domestic?

Yes, but only slightly. 2017 foreign revenue accounted for approximately 17%. Domestic revenues made up 83%.

In fact, more than half the world's people live in overseas markets.

This means that many people, even those who don't watch movies at home, will still want to see yours.

Why don’t more filmmakers use crowdfunding platforms like Indiegogo, Kickstarter, and others?

Crowdfunding is a great way to connect with potential investors.

Filmmakers don't feel qualified to ask for funds. They feel they must have someone to speak for them.

They don't believe anyone should invest in them, as they have not proven their worth yet.

Instead, they spend many months working on the project in hopes that someone will notice.

They realized that they hadn't prepared properly when they launched their campaign.

Instead of receiving thousands upon thousands of dollars, the recipients end up with a handful donations.

How to get an honor star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It consists of 2,711 stars embedded into the sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 active individuals on the HWOF.

You must first submit your name and address to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to become a member of HWOF. The Hollywood Department of Cultural Affairs then submits your information to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, a certificate will be sent to you stating that you are eligible. This includes your name as well as date of birth and the city where you live. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.

If you were nominated by an HWOF member, or if there are significant contributions made to the entertainment, film, radio, theatre, and music industries, you may be eligible for a "star" award. A committee evaluates the nominations and decides whether to approve them. If they do approve them, they send a note to the home address of the applicant stating their decision. If the person accepts, they will be sent a second letter to confirm their acceptance. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues a check payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which sends the check to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the application submitted by the artist or organization. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then pays half of the fee ($12.50). The other half goes to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
